Re: The OFFICIAL 3rd Test thread - England v Australia - Edgbaston
TB has been pretty flat of late, to be fair, so they'll have a bit of work to do to get it like Edgbaston. Always been more movement in the air than off the pitch there, which is why Jimbles has fared so well.

and of course, your lot only need to draw the series.

Johnson said in an interview yesterday that the "He bowls it left, he bowls it right" song went through his head as he ran in to bowl. He had a smirk on his face as he said that. Good man.

I'm expecting a similar pitch at TB to Edgbaston so the Aust batsmen need to have learnt something pretty damn quick.
Anderson is a big miss but there is a bit of straw clutching going on.
And I'd like to see Johnson 'happy' cos he has just knocked over England twice rather than because he is having his name chanted when we have been SHELLACKED.

Still Notts have maintained their ban on the Barmy Army trumpeter so there may be less SCARED EYES

I wouldn't go that far, Sven son, he was fucking atrocious again last night.

I'm just hoping if it is we see as much of it in future as McGrath on the Edgbaston outfield in 2005 .. Jimmy wincing
Would be ironic given all the 2005 stuff that's been on

To be honest at the moment we would struggle to keep out DERNBACH

I'm still quite EDGY, Sven son.

Losing Jimmy at Trent Bridge could be significant.

There are probably some out there who thrive on abuse.

I personally would love it and think it would have been superb being in Broad's shoes with 60,000 Aussies cunting him off. Be gagging to shut the cunts up and the majority of the banter Mitch gets is harmless and funny. Fair play to him when he doffed his cap at his figures of 0-100 in the first test too.

Not sure on Johnson, but Aussies seem pretty think (skinned) on the whole.

Cricket fans are interested in Englands next generation and the future Ashes combatants.

Think England , as Matty said, have left out some prospects who are in county sides.
6 wickets for an England leg spinner must be some sort of record.

Lawrence and Parkinson are u19 Test debutants and Australia have 8 debutants even though they played a Test against England in Feb.

Must admit to not knowing a great deal about Parkinson but they're some nice figures.

Given its a lovely pitch there today I fancy LAWRENCE to get a big score.

Re: The OFFICIAL 3rd Test thread - England v Australia - Edgbaston
I don’t think so,’ said Johnson at Trent Bridge on Tuesday when asked if the crowd had got to him. ‘I knew it was going to be quite lively at Edgbaston and I really enjoyed it this time. It was really nice to hear the chants of ‘Mitchell, Mitchell’ at the end when England had won the game! I think from my point of view it’s a compliment to me and I’ve been able to take the focus off other people.

‘It definitely drives me on. Experiencing it in 2009 was very different to what it is now. I can block it out when I need to and get involved when I feel I need to. Either way I’m pretty happy.’

Of course it does.
I don't think he is a strong character mentally and his career is all about ups and downs.
The fans are on his back because they have seen those swings in performance.
It's not as though you ever saw McGrath have the crowd trying that or singing songs at Lillee or Thomson.

Anyone who thinks the "abuse" Johnson gets doesn't get to him is deluding themselves.

Re: The OFFICIAL 3rd Test thread - England v Australia - Edgbaston
It does actually make me laugh
Especially when English fielders in front of the old Bay 13 at the MCG would have golf balls bounced off their heads and just get straight out abuse.
Johnson gets the baiting because the crowd thinks it puts him off his game and causes his up and down performances.
Take wickets and they are quiet. Simples

It's fucking laughable.... in Johnson's defence he seems to be playing along with it and does not seem that bothered...
